What is Global G.A.P Certification?

Global G.A.P. is an internationally recognized certified standard that ensures Good Agricultural Practices. Global Gap outlines international standards that safeguard food safety, workers’ health and safety, animal welfare, and environmental protection.  The focus is on agricultural produce, livestock, and aquaculture.

Global Gap’s objective is to promote sustainable agriculture worldwide that guarantees retailers and consumers standardized criteria on food safety. This is done by implementing HACCP, traceability, and segregation, with particular emphasis on procedures such as recall and withdrawal procedures. Moreover, Global G.A.P could be extensively beneficial to the farm’s record-keeping system and improve product quality.

GLOBALG.A.P Certification offers guidance on sustainable production practices, animal welfare, and worker health and safety and gaining its certification demonstrates to consumers and retailers an organization’s commitment to safe, sustainable food production. The programme is respected by retailers all over the world and can help take more Jamaican products into new markets.

What are the benefits of this certification?

The majority of retailers in today’s markets require certain standards that ensure safe and sustainable agriculture. GLOBALG.A.P. certification is highly regarded for demonstrating on-farm food safety and sustainability.

The GLOBALG.A.P. main standard, Integrated Farm Assurance, is available for three scopes of production: crops (editable as well as flowers and ornamentals), livestock, and aquaculture.
